Body-Con and Blazers

As per my last post extolling the joys of blazers, I thought I would follow up with showing you how a blazer can totally tone down a body-con dress for daytime. Case in point…how I made a Herve Leger bandage dress appropriate for a business meeting. These dresses are pretty much sex in the form of expensive Ace bandages and look pretty out of place before 5pm. They’re perfect for a night out dancing, drinking, and eating since they have the amazing ability to hold you in perfectly. No Spanx needed with these dresses. They look amazing as an evening option but come daylight hours, they can end up looking a bit…much. By pairing the dress with black tights and a black blazer, I was able to make this super sexpot dress into a fashionable outfit option totally appropriate for the fashion related meeting that I was attending. As for my super chunky necklace, that’s a left-over from my days as a buyer for a vintage and designer boutique…I like to think of it as my fashion girl bling.

Dress: Herve Leger

Blazer: Poleci

Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Necklace: Nettie Rothstein

Oh I love this look. I’ve been after a Herve Leger dress for a while now, but I’m waiting for the sales bargains of course, and I can never find one in my size. I love how you’ve styled it here, because you’re right they are so beautiful you want to wear them as much as possible. I’m sure the business meeting went well?!

I’ve totally lucked out and scored two of my three Herve’s on Gilt but it looks like Outnet also has a decent selection once and a while. There’s actually a stand alone Herve Leger store in Vegas (Planet Hollywood shops I think) and they usually have a pretty good sale section, it could be worth a call over there.

I just luv this look! Thats is one of the nicest HLs i’ve seen! I have a question, Im new in Montreal and I saw you wear Nicole Miller alot, and I noticed I miss her bags and didnt manage to find them here. What places here carry NM?

Hi Abby, welcome to Montreal! Thanks so much for your comment and compliment. Your best bet for finding Nicole Miller here in Montreal is at Holt Renfrew on Sherbrooke, but I’m not sure if they carry her bags. If you have any problems tracking down a piece your interested in email me and I can put you in contact with the store manager of Nicole Miller Philadelphia. I used to work for her (hence my NM collection) and she’s amazing at tracking down pieces and getting them out to clients. Hope this helps!
