Exploring in Le Chateau

The Palais Garnier never fails to amazing me with its beauty and splendour, especially the interior. One of my favourite aspects of this Parisian beauty is the ceiling painted by Marc Chagall in the auditorium of the opera house. While the rest of this opulent building is done in a Second-Empire Beaux Arts style, the ceiling is a playful injection of a more contemporary style having been painted in the later half of the 20th century.

Even though we’ve visited it a few times before, Darling Husband and I had to stop and take in the beautiful edifice of the Palais Garner on our meandering walk to the Musée Jacquemart André with madam. For a full day of walking and exploring, I donned my typical travel uniform of flat riding boots and this wonderfully versatile Le Chateau trench coat. Perfect for layering, it served me well with the fluctuation of weather conditions during our trip and transitioned beautifully from exploring the city by foot during the day to dinner out at night. In general, this sartorial versatility is something that I look for in most of my wardrobe choices when traveling. I’m a bit of an over-packer but I do try to at least pack items that will serve me well during the entirety of our travels.
