Runway Report: CHANEL Métiers d’Art PARIS COSMOPOLITE 2016/17 Accessories
As with the garments that make up the CHANEL Métiers d’Art PARIS COSMOPOLITE collection, the accessories of the collection are a stunning example of the special relationship between the house of CHANEL and their Métiers d’Art partners. I’m so thrilled to share these amazing close-up photos of these spectacular pieces as a follow up to my previous article regarding the PARIS COSMOPOLITE collection.
Opulent costume jewelry, so beloved by Mademoiselle Chanel herself, glittered at the wrists and throats of the models as they glided through the famed Ritz Paris while chic little veils and crowns of lush red roses sat atop their heads. For footwear, menswear inspired brogues were shown alongside prim heels and knee high boots. As for handbags, always a highlight with each new CHANEL collection, the Gabrielle hobo style was shown with intricate embroidery in fabrications of tweed and metallic gold leather while the iconic 2.55 bag is embellished as to seemingly echo the Ritz Paris itself. Another standout piece among the handbags was the whimsical perfume bottle clutch. Done in a black and gold stripe with delicate pearl detailing, it is a masterful reinterpretation of the emblematic Chanel N°5 perfume bottle. So important to the house of CHANEL, this scent and its distinct bottle inspired Monsieur Lagerfeld to create this elegant style of clutch that promptly distinguished itself as an exceptional piece within the world of handbags when it was first shown a few years ago.
It’s no secret that I love all things CHANEL. Nor is it a secret that I’m also a quite a big handbag lover. When you marry these two fashion favourites of mine, it quite frequently results in me walking a rather reluctant Darling Husband through assorted CHANEL boutiques to visit and “research” for upcoming articles. And, if I’m being honest, maybe also for some gentle hints as well. In honour of my deep and abiding love for both the house of CHANEL and handbags, I thought I’d combine these two passions for a special series of articles where I’ll be highlighting a specific style and its unique history. I’m so excited to launch the first article in this series next Friday!
