Runway Report: Pretty Ballerinas Spring/Summer 2017

February 16, 2017

Before the new year, I had the pleasure of previewing the Spring/Summer 2017 collection from Pretty Ballerinas. I always look forward to their previews because not only am I able to get a sneak peek of all of the gorgeous shoes that make up each upcoming collection, but I’m also able to put together my own personal wish-list/shopping-list for the coming season as well. I’m a huge fan of this Spanish brand that produces some of the most beautiful and comfortable shoes I’ve ever come across. Handmade, Pretty Ballerinas shoes have become a wardrobe staple of mine since first being introduced to the brand due to their high quality construction and always pretty designs.

For Spring/Summer, the brand is showing many darling variations on their classic ballet flats, as well as sneakers, thick soled loafers, brogues, and even little block heels. From classic solids and stripes, to bold multi colour prints, fringes, metallic, florals, and even coloured raffia, there’s a style for virtually anyone’s taste. There are a few pairs that I have my eyes on, but the totally darling flamingo loafers pictured above are at the top of my list as well as their classic ballerina style that has been updated with a grosgrain leg tie that’s reminiscent of a pointe shoe.

At the preview, I also had the chance to experience Pretty Ballerinas first foray into the world of fragrance with their bespoke “EAU DE PARFUM.” With top notes of strawberry, lychee, red fruits, carrot seeds, rum, sweet orange, and bergamot, heart notes of peony, rose, iris, plumtree flowers, ylang-ylang, and back notes of musk, vanilla, oakwood, sandalwood, palissander, tree moss, and patchouli, the scent is feminine and floral. As sophisticated as it is, it’s also sweetly light making it a lovely scent that can be worn daily.

You can scoop up your own bottle of Pretty Ballerinas “EAU DE PARFUM” in their boutiques (I most frequently shop at their Westmount location since it’s delightfully and dangerously close to me) and the Spring/Summer collection will start filtering into boutiques as well this month.

I enjoy long walks through Neiman Marcus, red soled shoes, skinny black pants, oversized cocktail rings, obnoxious bows, nipped waists and full skirts.
